The Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico, covers over a million acres and encompasses many different types of recreation. It is important to engage early on in the process to fight to protect access for the public.
The plan discusses closures and restrictions for summer and winter use whether it be through trails, camping or non-motorized zones. Ensuring the accuracy of the USFS map’s is imperative. Alternative E seems to be the least restrictive yet, we still would still like to see a Recreation Alternative. Recommended Wilderness areas are abundant and Alternative E recommends the smallest acreage of all the alternatives.
Access and recreation is an important piece to local economies. The USFS should give as much weight to recreation as they do to wilderness, conservation and wildlife.
Make your voice heard on this management plan that will set the tone for the travel management plan where we will see road specific closures.
