Description
This is a rare original U.S. Gear Dual Range two-speed auxiliary transmission with 1:1 direct and 0.80:1 (20% overdrive) ratios. It was used on early-model Ford, GM, and Dodge trucks, vans, and motorhomes and is identical to the Doug Nash DNE2. This heavy-duty unit carries a 35,000 lb GVWR rating and features straight cut helical planetary gears and electronic shifting to engage or disengage overdrive on the fly in any gear.
With the original adapter, this particular overdrive unit is designed to replace the tail housing of a turbo 400 transmission and provides both overdrive and gear-splitting capability. It works on two-wheel-drive setups with automatic transmission configurations.
This unit is in fantastic working condition but will likely need new seals. Although this unit is no longer in production, bearings, seals, and electric shift motor are still available by referencing part numbers. Hard parts for this unit can only be sourced used.
The unit has been thoroughly inspected by a professional auto mechanic with over two decades experience. The unit will be drained of oil, degreased, and thoroughly inspected a second time before shipping.
The unit comes with a custom built module made from a Raspberry pi Pico microcontroller and a dual mosfet trigger switch. The custom built module uses software written by me to activate a pair of relays for exactly 1.7 seconds to shift the unit at the push of a button. Wiring harness, switches, relays, and module included.
