The American people just achieved a major victory with the elimination of the EPA’s endangerment finding. Vehicle emissions standards have now been greatly reduced, and states can lower emissions requirements for both new and old automobiles.
We may finally start to see more classic vehicles on the road. Many parts needed to keep automobiles emissions-compliant are no longer available, leaving automotive enthusiasts with no choice but to retrofit aftermarket fuel injection systems. For example, the 1990 Jeep Cherokee with the Renix fuel injection system relies on several parts—such as the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve—to remain emissions-compliant, but replacement parts are no longer available.
We may also see the elimination of non-attainment zones where emissions requirements are enforced, as well as reduced consideration of emissions impacts by federal agencies when governing motorized use of federal lands. This is just another tool in the arsenal of anti-access groups.
