Think about it.
The argument over disrespectful public land users is almost identical to the argument over the Second Amendment. In both cases, individuals driven by political ideology seek to impose new laws, rules, and regulations in an attempt to force everyone to conform to their worldview. They fail to realize that their perspective is not shared by everyone else.
Believing that people will simply follow rules, regulations, and laws is extremely counterproductive. By their very nature, criminals do not follow laws. When they commit crimes, the typical response is to create new restrictions—which, again, are ignored by the very people who break the rules.
There will always be individuals who disregard laws, rules, and regulations in order to commit even the most disturbing crimes. Criminals will violate the law no matter what restrictions are placed on law-abiding citizens.
Just as your inalienable right to defend yourself is enshrined in the Bill of Rights, the right to occupy and use public land is fundamental to all creatures on Earth. We cannot allow land-use and property rights to be stripped from the American people—because that includes you, your children, and your grandchildren.
Individuals who violate the law must be held accountable for their actions. As a community, we have no control over the actions of others. Therefore, restricting the rights of the law abiding majority will not solve our problems. Only recognizing the limited jurisdiction of the US government and the role of state and local governments will keep our backroads open.
