Black Canyon TMP Final Decision | Approx 260 MI of existing roads CLOSED
On December 29, 2022, The Bureau of Land Management released its final decision on the Black Canyon Corridor Travel Management Plan. The final decision will impact over 250 miles of existing roads that provide access to over 166,000 acres of public lands. These roads will now be designated as closed or limited to the public.
This decision comes months after the Bureau withdrew its final decision because of significant mapping flaws highlighted by Arizona Backcountry Explorers after conducting a detailed analysis of the proposal. Aside from our involvement are the Arizona Association of 4wd Clubs, American Mining Rights Association, Roadrunners Prospectors Club, and the Blueribbon Coalition
The new plan addresses concerns raised by Yavapai County and public land users and will include 16 of 18 technical rock crawling trails proposed by the Arizona Undertakers 4×4 Club. The plan does, however, still contain significant flaws that must be remedied before this plan can move forward.

Arizona Backcountry Explorers and the Blueribbon Coalition are working on appealing this decision. The proposed plan is open for appeal. If you submitted timely comments on this proposal in the past, you can file an appeal by following the directions listed in the Decision Record.
Additionally, you can add your voice to ours by submitting your comments using the form below. These comments will not be counted on the proposed plan. Instead, these comments will pressure local political representatives into taking further action.
Your comments will be submitted to the Arizona Bureau of Land Management Hassayampa field office, the Yavapai County Board of supervisors, and State Legislative Representatives.
